I'm kind of curious - what all websites do you folks use to find your next car? I find that Kijiji/Craigslist is pretty standard, but are there other sites out there that are better?

I usually look at Autotrader. I find that the interface is easy enough to use.

I used autotempest last time, it will search multiple sites at once for you

Interesting! I can't say I've heard of it before. Seems pretty slick so far.

I think they've changed it a bit since I used it last, but it had ebay, CL, autotrader, cars.com and some other random one. Cars.com was good because a lot of listings had free carfax reports.

For whatever strange reason, one of our local news stations here in Utah decided to run a classifieds section on its website. They've managed to make it a lot more user friendly and searchable (especially for cars), to the extent that it is now the go-to for Utah classifieds. Craigslist is rarely used here. They have VIN confirmation, and all the search parameters you get on sites like Autotrader. It also covers Idaho and Wyoming, but not used quite as widely there.

So if you ever find yourself in Utah, you know where to go.

Its pretty good, a lot of dealers use it so it can be a pain that way. A lot of Calgary stuff for our area, not much Lethbridge.

Yeah, there really isn't much in our area.

I keep looking at Chevy Volts down in the San Francisco area. I've got a few friends down that way, so flying down there and picking something up doesn't particularly scare me. The thing is, with the dollar being where it is right now, it's not like I'd be saving a ton. Maybe $2-3k, which is still nothing to sneeze at, but still.

Now you've got me curious - which station is it?

There's a similar phenomenon that has happened here in Lethbridge. For some reason everyone uses a single Facebook group for posting almost anything. It's completely unsearchable, but it has to be like 25% of the population of the town on it.

I checked out Cars.com for the first time this morning. It does seem pretty impressive.

I really don't get the Facebook thing. There are quite a few of those here, but they just don't seem like the easiest thing to use. Ones for smaller communities or specific hobbies make sense, but not for general stuff.

I do a lot of searching on AutoTrader and Cars.com. I've bought several cars I found on AutoTrader—they were at dealers and I wanted to trade in a car rather than go through the hassle of selling it myself.

Amazingly Cars.com seems to have become my go to for anything under ten years old. Granted when I'm car shopping I look everywhere .

A Volt in AB?!?! you rebel you, people will look at you the same way they look at the guy with two Telsa's!

Ya the dollar really sucks at this point, makes my trips to Whitefish/Kalispell hurt the pocket book a little more. Though with beers only costing a third of the price its not like it really costs me more.

I still want the Renault I found in Sweet Grass though!

I know, I'm a rebel. There's actually someone here in Lethbridge with a Model S.

I'm hoping that low gas prices and the introduction of the new volt drives prices of used Volts down even further.

There was a pretty sweet looking Chevy C10 that someone was selling in Kalispell.

Ya I have seen it on the west side a few times. He has a Tesla Roadster too!

Ya that would be ideal, Murray had an ELR for a day I think too!

If you Google chevy c10 kalispell a few show up!

It's not by chance the same guy who runs Street Machine Weekend, is it? I've heard he has a Tesla roadster.

I heard it was the guy who owned the S that has the Roadster too but I could be wrong.

I have no idea who runs street wheelers though.

It certainly could be him. I thought the guy driving the Model S was fairly young looking (i.e.: slightly less than middle aged).

I can't remember the name of the guy either. I want to say something like Gary, or something like that. He was driving around in an orange Volkswagen Thing last year.

That guy sounds very Jalop.

The S is always parked at some business across from the Dodge dealer on the highway, looks there is a charger installed there. Rarely see the Roadster anymore.

Might have to investigate further!

Big internet sites like Autotrader, Cars.com, Carmax

Enthusiast forums (like Rennlist)

Specialty local dealers

I found my most recent car over Autotrader, and have sold several cars through Craigslist.
